Hampi’s Healing Sound Session: A Serene Morning at Hippie Village

Woke up in Hampi… a little too high, a lot too late. The forest musical healing session in Hippie Village was supposed to start at 6 AM. We opened our eyes at 8 — groggy, slightly tripping on the Hampi vibe — but something told us not to miss it. So we rushed. And thank god we did. The healer, @gali_hampi — smiled when we arrived. That kind of calm, knowing smile that says, “Don’t worry, you’re not late. You’re exactly on time.” The session was technically over, but he invited us in anyway — into his small, warm sound room. No intro. No build-up. Just sound. Pure, moving sound. The singing bowl came first — soft and steady, like the earth letting out a breath. Then the flute — playful, like the wind teasing old temple walls. The handpan followed. Mesmerizing. Circular. Like rhythm with a heartbeat. A gentle guitar, strumming emotion into the air. And then… the didgeridoo. I'd never heard one in person before. The moment it began, I felt it. That deep, ancient sound didn’t just fill the room — it filled me. Like standing barefoot on stone and feeling it hum beneath you. And there were more… A rainstick that felt like monsoon arriving, A wooden frog that croaked softly, Tiny bells, wind chimes — layers of nature, turned into sound. We sat still. We didn’t speak. We didn’t need to. Some places whisper peace. Hampi sings it.

Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary Goa: Discover Goa’s Untouched Natural Paradise

Goa may be synonymous with sun-kissed beaches and vibrant nightlife, but on my recent visit, inspired by endless recommendations, I swapped my beach towel for an adventure I had never truly experienced before. What unfolded was a journey into the serene and secretive heart of Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary, a paradise for nature lovers tucked away in South-Eastern Goa. Just a few kilometers from Canacona Market, the transformation was dramatic. The noise of city life was replaced by the gentle hum of the forest, and with every passing mile, the air grew fresher. I felt a strange sense of calm as the vibrant greens of Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary enveloped me. As I ventured deeper, sunlight struggled to penetrate the thick canopy, creating an enchanting twilight effect—a mystical experience that made midday feel magical. Spanning an impressive 211 sq. km, Netravali is one of India’s most significant wildlife sanctuaries, teeming with diverse flora and fauna. Towering mountains, gushing waterfalls, and lush green valleys define its untamed beauty. Among its star attractions are the Savari (Neturlim) Waterfall and Mainapi Falls, each offering a nature-packed adventure. The journey is an experience in itself—a thrilling 30-kilometer jungle ride, a hidden waterfall, a refreshing 1.5 km trek through the woods, and finally, the breathtaking sight of the towering falls. The sanctuary also boasts mysterious bubbling lakes and hills that host ancient shrines with religious significance. Open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, the sanctuary is best explored during the cool, vibrant months between October and March. Arrive early to fully immerse yourself in this untouched haven. (Be sure to confirm timings before your visit.) So, the next time you’re in Goa, give the beaches a break and let nature take center stage. Explore Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary—a hidden gem that promises a slice of paradise and memories you’ll cherish forever. PS: Unfortunately, due to my battery I missed capturing the main waterfall.

Discovering Salaulim Dam: Goa’s Best-Kept Secret Beyond the Beaches

Confession time: My Goa trips always followed the same old script—beach-hopping, indulging in amazing food, shopping sprees, and, of course, endless beer (because, Goa). Venturing beyond the beaches? That idea never even crossed my mind. But then, those irresistible Instagram reels started popping up, showing off a place that looked straight out of a storybook—Salaulim Dam. Naturally, I had to check it out. Spoiler alert: it absolutely lives up to the hype. Sprawled across a massive 24-square-kilometer area, Salaulim Dam was a complete change of pace from the usual beach vibes I’m used to in Goa. 5 kilometers from Sanguem Town, it’s perched on the Salaulim River, a tributary of the Zuari, and supplies drinking water to all of South Goa. Practical? Yes. Stunning? Absolutely. But what really stole the show for me was its unique design and natural beauty. The spillway, shaped like a duckbill (seriously, I Googled it before going—it’s fascinating), sends water cascading in the most mesmerizing semi-circular flow. The water plunges 50 feet, then takes another dramatic 100-foot dive into a deep gorge, creating a misty spray that fills the air. Standing nearby, I couldn’t help but laugh as the cool droplets soaked me—it was such a fun and unexpected experience. Before You Go: Don’t forget your photo ID (they’ll check at the entrance). The dam is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, and the entry fee is just INR 60— If, like me, you’ve been sticking to Goa’s beaches and are craving something different, Salaulim Dam is the perfect escape. It’s peaceful, gorgeous, and gives you a whole new side of Goa to fall in love with.

Rishikesh Beyond the Usual: Stories in Silence, Art on Walls

On my recent trip to Rishikesh, I went in expecting just the usual—some good food, thrilling rafting, and temple darshans. But what I experienced was far beyond what I had imagined. Instead of renting bikes, we decided to walk. That’s where the magic began. The moment we stepped into those narrow lanes, something shifted. There was a calm in the air… like the city was moving slowly, breathing gently, letting you breathe with it. On one side, you’d hear people chanting softly in ashrams. On the other, someone pouring fresh chai into tiny glasses. The sound of the Ganga wasn’t loud, but it was always there—steady, like background music you didn’t know you needed. Every now and then, we’d come across groups sitting together, singing bhajans. No microphones, no cameras—just devotion. And even though stopping wasn’t part of the plan, I did. Sat down for a while. Just listened. Chanted. It felt... grounding. Like something inside was quietly recharging. And then there were the walls. Not just painted—but alive. One moment you’re walking past houses, bridges, ashrams, or even parking lots—and the next, Shiva’s eyes are looking right at you—fierce, still, powerful. Further down, there’s Lord Ram, calm and focused. And then Hanuman ji, caught mid-air, full of movement and energy. These weren’t just graffiti. They felt alive—like the city was speaking in colours. That’s what Rishikesh is. A place where peace and adrenaline live on the same street. You can do yoga by the river in the morning and be bouncing down rapids by the afternoon. It’s spiritual and artistic, noisy and quiet—all at once. This wasn’t just a trip. It felt like the kind of experience that stays with you. And I’ll say this—some of the most meaningful stories aren’t spoken. They’re painted. Quietly. On walls most people walk past.

Hospedaria Venite, Goa: A Charming Time Capsule in Fontainhas

If walls could talk, @venite_goa (Hospedaria Venite) would have the best stories in Goa. Tucked away in the charming lanes of Fontainhas, this cozy spot feels like a portal to another time—one that just might steal your heart. Housed in an old Portuguese-style building, it invites you to slow down the moment you step inside. The creaky wooden stairs, hand-painted walls, and scribbled notes from travelers around the world make it feel like you're flipping through someone’s living scrapbook. The vibe is beautifully laid-back, with a gentle hum that makes you want to linger. If you’re lucky enough to snag one of those tiny balcony seats, hold onto it. Sitting there with a cold local beer, watching Fontainhas unfold at its own unhurried pace—it’s pure magic. Now, the food. Let’s just say it’s the kind that stays with you. The mackerel? Perfectly crisped skin, a melt-in-your-mouth center, and that bold Goan spice—like a recipe passed down through generations. The daily specials are always rooted in local flavors: comforting, soulful, and unpretentious. The people make it even better. The staff aren’t just serving food—they’re sharing stories. Ask about a dish and they’ll happily tell you where it comes from, how it's made, or which one they personally love. That kind of genuine connection? Rare—and truly special. If I had to nitpick, the veg options could use a little more variety. A couple of creative veg specials would really round things out. And before you leave? Don’t skip the Coco Fling—a refreshing mix of palm feni, crushed ice, mint, and lime. It’s light, zesty, and tastes like Goa in a glass. Hospedaria Venite isn’t loud or flashy. It doesn’t need to be. It’s the kind of place that quietly makes a home in your heart. Tag someone you’d love to sip a Coco Fling with on that balcony.

First Trek to Malana: Hidden Trails, High Hopes & Mountain Magic

In 2012, we leaped from our MBA classrooms into the bustling corporate world of Delhi/NCR. The salaries weren’t spectacular, but they fueled our dreams of weekend getaways. Himachal was the preferred choice, with easily available buses and plenty of budget stays. We visited Manali, Kasol, McLeod Ganj, and Tosh on subsequent trips. One day, while browsing some random travel blogs, I stumbled upon Malana—known for its breathtaking views and fascinating stories, some exaggerated by social media, along with its infamous reputation for cream. That was enough to convince us for our next mountain escapade. As we settled into the bus, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, which faded at the thought of no office, no calls, no late nights—just me and the mountains. After a day in Kasol, we geared up for our trek to Malana. Thankfully, the road was fairly accessible, though the journey from Bhuntar involved navigating narrow, winding paths with a few rough patches. Upon reaching Malana Gate, we discovered we had to trek about a kilometre down to the village. The nearby riverbed beckoned us for a refreshing break. After enjoying the river, we embarked on the main trek. The path was steep and lacked proper steps, turning the ascent into a genuine workout. I found myself gasping for breath every few steps, taking multiple breaks along the way. Hours felt like an eternity, but finally, we reached the top. When we arrived in Malana, we were welcomed by a mysterious wonderland. The community is deeply orthodox, steeped in rich traditions and customs. As we wandered in, we encountered a sign that read, “No Touching & Photo of Holy Place,” a stark reminder of the village’s strict rules. Despite our initial hesitation, friendly locals welcomed us. We shared a simple meal of delicious Maggi at a cozy little house, along with some local specialties. After a few hours of exploration, we reluctantly began our descent, each of us promising to return. Malana had captivated us with its charm and mystery. The journey back was filled with laughter, stories, and multiple breaks. I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the unforgettable adventure.

Timeless Treasures: Exploring Hyderabad’s Hidden Vintage Car Museum

Timeless Treasures on Wheels! In the bustling heart of Hyderabad, Kerman Pestonjee’s garage is a magical portal to a world where time stands still. Imagine stepping into a sanctuary filled with classic cars and motorcycles that have witnessed the elegance and splendor of a bygone era. This vintage vehicle collection isn’t just a display; it’s a time capsule overflowing with stunning automobiles that once cruised through the illustrious days of the Nizam. Each car and bike is more than just a vehicle; it’s a masterpiece that reflects an age when craftsmanship and artistry reigned supreme. From gleaming chrome details to luxurious interiors, these classics tell unique stories of their journeys. Lovingly maintained by Kerman’s skilled hands, each vehicle is a testament to the dedication that goes into preserving automotive history. As you stroll down the lane near Cherman House in Abids, immerse yourself in the joy of seeing these magnificent machines on display during special occasions like Independence Day or Dussehra. Feel the nostalgia they evoke and connect with a rich heritage. A special mention: The Harley-Davidson 1915, the Mercedes-Benz W 143 (1937, 6-cylinder), and the Humber Hawk (1947) have completely stolen my heart! Please note: The garland on the vehicle is for the beautiful tradition of Ayudha Puja in Hyderabad, where vehicles, tools, and weapons are adorned with garlands, mango leaves, and banana saplings.

Goa Through Mario de Miranda’s Eyes: A Love Affair Since 2015

My Goa obsession started in 2015, courtesy of the Miranda gallery. I was instantly captivated by Mario de Miranda's witty and insightful cartoons, which perfectly captured the essence of Goan life. His ability to find humour in everyday situations and his deep understanding of human nature were truly inspiring. Every year since then, my Goa trips have included a visit to the Mario Gallery. Buying a figurine is a tradition I cherish, a tangible reminder of my love for this beautiful state and its talented artists. I can't wait to explore Goa again next month and discover another gem from Mario de Miranda's world. These two clicks are from Mario Gallery, Carmona, South Goa

Freedom on Two Wheels: Breakfast Ride to Siddipet

Nothing compares to the calm I feel when I’m on a motorcycle. With the wind in my hair and the world fading away, it’s like floating in a peaceful bubble. All my worries, both good and bad, just melt away. What’s left is the open road, the cool breeze, and the gentle rustle of the trees. Riding gives me a magical sense of freedom, like I’m in control of my own journey. Last weekend was a blast with an amazing group of riders @royal_wanderlust_! We took a short but thrilling breakfast ride to Siddipet, and every curve in the road felt like a fresh adventure. The camaraderie among us made the experience even more special!
